Hi! Can you start by telling us who you are and what you do in I Am The Avalanche?
My name is Mike and I play the guitar for I Am The Avalanche.

For those who don't know you, how would you describe the bands sound?
It is a very diverse mix of styles thrown together to make a loud punk music sound that we like a lot.

And who are your biggest influences?
My dad ( Resonator Ghost ), Jawbreaker, the Clash, Tom Petty, Against Me!, NOFX, No Use For A Name, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Dire Straits, Talking Heads, Dave Grohl, The Libertines, etc. etc. the list is endless. I am the biggest music lover you will ever meet.

So are these the bands tha you'd also class as your personal favourites?
Absolutely positively.

You've played with some pretty cool bands like Bayside and No Use For A Name, if you could tour with any 3 other bands, who would you pick and why?
If I could pick 3 bands to tour with that we haven't toured with yet it would be Against Me! - I've been following them for years, I used to go see them a lot when I lived in Florida and I try to catch them as much as I can now. I think they're a fucking great band and can do no wrong. Lawrence Arms - another band I am a huge fan of. Greatest story every told is in my top 10 records of all time. Alberta Baker Fox - their record has been on repeat in our van for months.

You're on tour with Hit the Lights right now, who've also been kind enough to talk to us, how's that coming along?
It's been really awesome. They are just as weird and party just as hard as we do. We have toured with them several times before, and we always have a blast with them. I am a little bummed out that HOT CARL shaved off his mustache though. It was so shitty looking and awesome. Oh well, the RATT (our drummer) still has his, at least.

What would you say your biggest achievement as a band is?
Going to Japan with no use for a name was pretty fucking surreal.

And how do you hope to top that in the near future?
We have well over 30 songs in the works right now and they are ready to be put in the oven and baked and dispersed to the world. Well not at all 30, but maybe 14 of them!!!! we are super stoked to just put a 2nd record out and tour the world over and over and over and over......oh Australia, we may be seeing you in February.

Any plans to come over to the UK to play any shows any time in the near future?
Absolutely. We love the UK. The Ratt has his own reality show coming out in the UK about his facial hair. Be on the lookout for that.
