YOUR SWEET UNCERTAINTY
Hello there, thank's a lot for taking the time to talk to us. Firstly, who are you and what do you do in Your Sweet Uncertainty?
My name is Jeff Kummer. I play the drums.
And what type of music does the band play?
Rock n Roll goodness.
And who are your biggest influences?
As a band.. Goo Goo Dolls, Jimmy Eat World, Gin Blossums to name a few.
And other than the bands which influence you, what inspires you to make the music that you do?
Nothing specific. Making music is fun to do. So we keep writing more songs.
You originally started as a side project to The Early November, did you ever imagine at the start that it would become a full time thing?
Not at the time. Towards the end of TEN I knew that this would be my next priority.
How would you define success?
Happiness.
So at what point, if not already, would you take a look at your achievements and think "Yeah, we've really made it!"?
June of 2002.
There seems to be a lot of bands coming through making it for themselves without record label backing. How do you feel about this?
I think its great that bands realize they can be successful without the help of a label. If bands can do what they love by themselves, without any backing and still make a living off of it.. more power to them.
Obviously there are advantages and disadvantages to doing it alone, what would you say they are?
Plain and simple.. advantage - 100% creative control. Disadvantage - the ability to push your band above and beyond. You can only get so far by yourself before you have to rely on luck. Although that could be the case both ways.
So what does the future hold for Your Sweet Uncertainty?
Recording more and more music!
Any plans to come across and play some shows in the UK?
Thats also one more disadvantage haha. To be honest, we dont have that kind of money. I dont think it would make much sense for us at the moment although I would love to.
Finally, what message would you send out to all the kids starting a band with the ambition of 'making it'?
First, make sure your band is good. Dont croud the music industry with the same thing. Be yourself, play what comes out, and dont try, just do and youll be fine. Success comes with hard work, dedication, and luck
